Contractions

Braxton Hicks or Labor Contractions?

How do i know if i’m having Braxton Hicks or ‘real’ Labor Contractions?

In general, true labor contractions come at predictable intervals (ie, every 5 minutes), last 1-2 minutes, causes the whole tummy to get real firm and tight, and progressively get worse.  False labor or Braxton Hicks contractions is anything else, they are random, irregular, short lived, happen anywhere in the abdomen, and are a nuisance.

You should call your provider or go to labor and delivery if you have 10 or more true contractions per hour for at least an hour or longer.
